Cicero, Marcus Tullius (106-43 BC) - Rome’s greatest orator, philosopher, and rhetorician, he developed a style of speaking that was emulated for centuries thereafter. Cicero was influential in the development of Latin as more than just a utilitarian language. The First Oration Against Marcus Antonius (44 BC) - Also called the “First Philippic.” Cicero, allying himself with Octavius, attacked Antonius. Octavius, however, would later join Antonius in declaring Cicero an outlaw.

The Conceited Apple-Branch - One of Hans Christian Andersen’s Fairy Tales. An apple-branch, put on display by a young countess, looks out a window at the poor despised dandelions and is glad not to be as common and ugly.
